2014 Cabernet Franc
While the wine is not overtly fruity or markedly herbaceous as some Cabernet Francs can be, it is none the less detailed with black currant, dried black cherry, dusty mineral, bay leaf and new leather. Rich, yet not big and overpowering, it is a medium weight wine that is both nervy and punctuated with notes of dried herbs, pipe tobacco, cured meats, anise and Earl Grey tea.
The fruit for this bottling was sourced entirely from Evans Creek Vineyard and is fastidiously farmed by Nancy Tappan. At the very top of the steeply terraced hillside sits "Nancy's Folly" block of Cabernet Franc. This block is very unique in that Cabernet Franc is notorious for being a very late ripening variety, yet Nancy's Folly always ripens early. Evans Creek Vineyard has long been a source of exceptional fruit for us and is distinguished by very low yielding vines with beautiful clusters of small berries.Average brix at harvest: 24.6
