2014 Cabernet Sauvignon
Violet in appearance, our 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of black plum, red fruits, tobacco leaf, graphite. The wine is medium-bodied with supple tannin and flavors are savory accented with spice and cedar.
Our Cabernet Sauvignon is representative of farming in the warmer regions of the Rogue Valley appellation. Our Cabernet Sauvignon fruit has been sourced for over a decade from a terraced hillside near Rogue River at Evans Creek Vineyard. Meticulously farmed, the small berries, low crop load and loose clusters always ripen earlier than other vineyards we source from.
2014 was the one of the earliest and warmest vintages for Oregon, producing larger than average clusters that nevertheless led to dark, robust wines. The weather resulted in a little more of everything: color, concentration, tannin, and depth of fruit.
The fruit was hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented for 10 to 14 days. The small lots were aerated and treated with punch downs. Post-fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months (25% once-filled).
